Description:
Objectives and PurposeThe objective of this consultancy is to support the Government of Sri Lanka to assess the effectiveness of locally produced Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) in treating severe/ acute malnutrition (SAM) in children. The Purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical support to the Government of Sri Lanka in evaluating the effectiveness of locally produced Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) for the treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) in children, ensuring evidence-based decision-making for nutrition interventions.Specific Objectives•To determine the weight gain among children with SAM treated with locally produced RUTF•To evaluate the degree of change in anthropometric parameters (weight, length/height) after treatment with locally produced RUTF•To assess the proportion of children who recover from SAM ( WHZ ≥ -3 without edema) after treatment with locally produced RUTF•To assess the clinical safety of the locally produced RUTF by monitoring any adverse effects during treatment
