Description:
Objectives and Scope To describe the health sector and client related factors of implementation of MMS and its contribution to achievement of nutrient adequacy among pregnant women in Sri Lanka. The main scope is to describe the health sector and client related factors of implementation of MMS bythe government sector of Sri Lanka and its contribution to achievement of nutrient adequacy among pregnant women. It is necessary to determine the coverage and adherence of MMS among pregnant mothers in the second and third trimesters in the community and de-scribe the supply chain of MMS to therecipient for uninterrupted supply. And it is important to identify the supportive factors and barriers for the intake of MMS among the non-anaemic antenatal mothers in the second and third trimesters and their views, feedback and perspections, regarding the implementation of MMS. Health worker capacityplays a vital role in the success of MMS implementation among non-anaemic pregnant mothers, therefore determining the health worker capacity to effectively deliver, counsel and support women to receive and consume MMS is essential. For the successful monitoring and evaluation of the MMS implementation,it is very useful to describe the integration of MMS supplementation into the routine RHMIS. It is necessary to describe the contribution of MMS to the achievement of nutrient adequacy among pregnant women in Sri Lanka for the continuation of MMS among pregnant mothers.
