• Promoting Increased Renewable Energy Deployment, Energy Efficiency, and Power System Resilience - PSE-TP Power System Engineer Approval Date: 14-Oct-2021 Deadline of Submitting EOI: 14-Feb-2023 11:59 PM Manila local time Estimated Commencement Date: 20-Feb-2023 Estimated Commencement Date: 40,000 USD Objective and Purpose of the Assignment Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Sri Lanka needs to integrate a considerable proportion of renewable energy (RE) based generation in the next few years to meet the ambitious government policy target of generating 70% of electricity from RE by 2030. Almost all the new RE additions are expected to be from wind and solar, both of which are falling under variable RE based resources (VRE) and inverter based asynchronous technologies. When integrating inverter based generating technologies to the network, we require to carry out certain site specific studies, both to see the impact of the proposed plant to the system, and also the ability of the plant to be integrated with the network under different possible system configurations, meeting Grid Code requirement. It is only after such studies that both CEB and the project proponent could ascertain whether there are any additional grid support interventions required to be implemented alongside the plant to interconnect with the grid. Scope of Work Consultant support is required to assist CEB staff to bridge any knowledge gap in order to carry out the aforementioned requirements. The consultant is expected to carry out the studies and/or reviewing studies submitted by project proponents with the support of CEB staff. It is expected that the requirement for external assistance could gradually be reduced as and when CEB staff build their own capacity.
